Reserpine is obtained from roots bark of plant Rauwolfia serpentina (sarpagandha) belongs to family-Apocynaceae. It is used for treatment of Schizophrenia and other mental disorder, widely employed for treating high blood pressure. Commercial turmeric is the dried and processed rhizomes of Curcuma longa. It is largely used as a spice and colouring matter in pharmacy, confectionary and food technology. Papaver somniferum (opium poppy) is a source of opium and its derivatives particularly morphine and heroin. Opiates remain unexcelled as hypnotics and sedatives and are frequently used to relieve pain and anxiety.
