Q. Relative lowering of vapour pressure of a dilute solution is $0.2$. What is the mole fraction of the non-volatile solute?

J & K CETJ & K CET 2006

Solution:

According to Raoult's law the relative lowering in vapour pressure of an ideal solution containing the non-volatile solute is equal to the mole fraction of the solute.
$ \because $ Relative lowering of vapour pressure
$ =0.2 $
$ \therefore $ Mole-fraction of the solute $ =0.2 $
