Q. Regarding F and Cl which of the following statement
(s) is/are correct?
I. $CI^-$ can give up an electron more easily than $F^-$.
II. $CI^-$ is a better reducing agent than $F^-$.
III. $CI^-$ is smaller in size than .
IV. $F^-$ can be oxidised more readily than $CI^-$.

Solution:

The electronegativity of $F^-$ ion is high, so it
accept an electron and $CI^-$ ion can give an electron
more easily. Also the size of $F^-$ is smaller than
chloride ion (Cl-).
