Part marked as 6 is proximal convoluted tubule (PCT). PCT is the convoluted portion of the vertebrate nephron that lies between Bowman's capsule and the loop of Henle. Cells of PCT are lined by simple cuboidal brush border epithelium that increases the surface area for reabsorption. The cells lining the PCT absorb organic nutrients, plasma proteins, & ions from the tubular fluid and release them into the interstitial fluid surrounding the renal tubule where this reabsorbed fluid enters the peritubular capillaries.
