Recombinant proteins are those proteins which are obtained from recombinant DNA technology. There are only ten such proteins which are in use/practice, they are:
1. Factor VII (treating hemophilia A)
2. Factor - IX (treatment of hemophilia B)
3. DNAase I, (treating cystic fibrosis)
4. Bovine growth hormone (increasing milk yield)
5. Insulin (treating type-I diabetes mellitus)
6. Interferon-alpha (treating chronic Hepatitis-C)
7. Anti-thrombin - III (prevention of blood clot)
8. Interleukins (treatment of cancers)
9. Interferon - beta (herpes and viral enteritis)
10. Human recombinant growth hormone (promoting growth)
