I. Human beings have four parathyroid glands, two pairs each situated in each lobe of the thyroid gland.
III. PTH acts on bones and stimulates the process of bone resorption and also stimulates the absorption of calcium from the renal tubules and digested food. Hence, it is a 'hypercalcemic' hormone.
