Solution:

Thyroxine and tri-idothyroxine are the two hormones produced by the follicles of the thyroid gland. Both are an iodinated form of an amino acid called tyrosine.
The thyroid hormones greatly increase the metabolic rate of the body, enhance heat production and maintain BMR.
