Ratitae is a group of flightless birds. They are flat breasted birds in opposition to the Carinatae. They have the following characteristics - (i) keel to the sternum is absent, (ii) flat breast bone, (iii) coracoid and scapula fused together, (iv) weak wing muscles, (v) normally without a pygostyle.
