Q. Radioactive $C^{14} $ is given to $ C{{O}_{2}} $ and released to atmosphere. This $ C{{O}_{2}} $ is taken by $ RuBP $ in a $C_3 $ plant. First radioactive $ C^{14} $ is seen in which compound?

Solution:

$ {{C}^{14}} $ is an isotope of carbon. It has been used to draw the path of carbon fixation in the process of photosynthesis. This levelled $ {{C}^{14}} $ becomes incorporated with $ ^{14}C{{O}_{2}} $ which is accepted by $ RuBP $ and a $3$ carbon compound, phosphoglyceric acid $(3 PGA)$ is formed. $3-PGA$ is the first stable compound.
