As $(R) 2$-bromobutane is a $3^{\circ}$ halide, so it will undergo $S _{ N } 1$ mechanism. As it is optically active alkyl halide and follows $S _{ N } 1$ mechanism, it is accompanied by racemisation. Thus, it will give both $R$ and $S$ products.
