Mastigamoeba is a genus of the class Archamoebae in the kingdom Protista. They may exist as amoeboid flagellates, aflagellate amoebae, multinucleate amoebae, and as cysts. But their dominant life cycle stage is as an amoeboid flagellate. Different forms have different locomotory structures for a movement like-
1. Pseudopodia- They are temporary arms like an extension of cytoplasm formed in the direction of locomotion or feeding.
2. Flagella- They are hair-like structures protruding from the cell body of certain bacteria and eukaryotic cells that helps primarily in locomotion.
3. Myoneme- It is also known as spasmoneme, which is consist of protein filament. It is a contractile structure which contracts rapidly in the presence of calcium ion.
