Kwashiorkar is a protein deficiency disease. It occurs in children between the age group of 6 months and 3 years. The children suffering from kwashiorkar stops growing, their bellies become swollen and their hair colour fades. Their disease resistance get lowered. This disease is also characterized by oedema, anaemia, fatty liver, swelling of body parts and slender legs.
