Solution:

Potato is a modification of underground stem. It is called as tuber. It is the branch of main stem which accumulates or stores food in it and swells up. On the surface of tuber many axillary buds or eyes are formed which are capable of growing into new plant under favourable conditions, e.g., Solanum tuberosum (potato).
