Cretinism is a condition of severely stunted physical and mental growth due to the untreated congenital deficiency of thyroid hormones, usually due to the maternal hypothyroidism. Symptoms include mental retardation delayed or impaired sexual performance, thickened skin, enlarged tongue or a protruding abdomen.
