It is a cluster of numerous ribosomes that are involved in protein synthesis. These ribosomes in a polysome are connected with single mRNA and translate the genetic information coded in the mRNA. Each ribosome has two subunits i.e.one smaller and one bigger unit. Once the translation is finished these subunits get separated from each other. In the next cycle, they again reassociate for the initiation of protein synthesis.
