PMMA is polymethyl (methacrylate) also called Plexiglass, Acrylite and Perspex is formed by the polymerization of methyl methacrylate, $CH_2 = \overset{\underset{|}{C}{H_3}}{C} - COOCH_3$. it can take up beautiful colours and tints. It is used in making lenses, light covers, light shades, signboards, transparent domes and skylights, aircraft windows, protective coatings, dentures and plastic jewellery.
