Cyanobacteria are the members of class Cyanophyceae or Myxophyceae which are commonly called blue-green algae due to presence of a blue-green pigment $C$- phycocyanin, $C$ -phycoerythrin along with chlorophyll-a, $B$-carotene and myxoxanthin.
