Photochemical smog is formed on the chemical reaction of sunlight, nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds in the atmosphere.

Oxygen atom (nascent) is very reactive and combines with $O_{2}$ in air to produce ozone.
$O\left(g\right)+O_{2}\left(g\right) \rightarrow O_{3}\left(g\right)$
