Q. Phosphorylation of glucose during glycolysis is catalysed by

Respiration in Plants

Solution:

During glycolysis, glucose is phosphorylated to glucose-$6$-phosphate by $ATP$ in the presence of enzyme hexokinase or glucokinase and $Mg^{2+}$ as follows :
Glucose $+ ATP \xrightarrow[Mg^{2+}]{\text{Hexokinase} }$ Glucose-$6$-phosphate $+ ADP$
