Parathyroid Hormone (PTH) or parathormone also called as, Collips, hormone is secreted by chief cells of parathyroid glands. This hormone is polypeptide (protein) by nature. It regulates the calcium and phosphate balance between blood and other tissues. Steroid hormones includes the hormones secreted by adrenal cortex, testes, ovaries. No animal hormone has been found to be lipid and carbohydrate in nature.
