Parathormone /Collip ’s hormone is a proteinaceous hormone. Its secretion from chief cells of parathyroid gland is controlled by the blood calcium level through feedback mechanism (low calcium level stimulates its secretion while high calcium level inhibits). Optimum calcium level in blood plasma is essential for proper functioning of muscles, heart, nerves & membrane permeability
