Solution:

In open vascular system, blood does not remain confined in the blood vessels and comes to certain spaces. Exchange of materials is direct between blood and body cells, eg, arthropods. In closed vascular system, blood remains confined to the blood vessels. Exchange of materials occurs through the tissue fluid, eg, Nereis, earthworm, squid and all vertebrates.
