Solution:

On germination, moss spores produce protonema. It is a green filamentous creeping structure. The filaments which are erect have chloroplast (protonema with chloroplast is also called as chloronema). Some branches of the protonema grow below the substratum and away from the light known as rhizoidal branches. They fix protonema in the soil and help in absorption of water and minerals.
