Q.
On a smooth plane surface (figure) two block $A$ and $B$ are accelerated rightwards by applying a force $15N$ on $A$ . If mass of $B$ is twice that of $A$ , the force on $B$ is

Solution:
Let us consider the mass of block $A=m$ ,
Then the mass of block $B=2m$
Net force acting on the blocks is $15N$ .
Then the acceleration of both blocks will be,
$a=\frac{15}{m + 2 m}=\frac{15}{3 m}=\frac{5}{m}$ '
So, force on block $B=2ma=2m\times \frac{5}{m}=10N$ .
Then the mass of block $B=2m$
Net force acting on the blocks is $15N$ .
Then the acceleration of both blocks will be,
$a=\frac{15}{m + 2 m}=\frac{15}{3 m}=\frac{5}{m}$ '
So, force on block $B=2ma=2m\times \frac{5}{m}=10N$ .
