Obelia (sea fur) belong to class hydrozoa, phylum cnidaria. After fertilization in Obelia ciliated free swimming larva-planula is formed. Obelia show alternation of generations or metagenesis. Medusae are sexual forms and bear true velum, marked by narrow they like ridge. Such medusa are called craspedote medusae.
