Q. Nuclides

AMUAMU 2004

Solution:

Nuclides have a definite number of protons and neutrons and consequently definite atomic number and mass number. Such as oxygen nuclei contains $8$ protons and 8 neutrons. $\left({ }_{8}^{16} O \right)$. The atomic number is $8$ and mass number
$=$ number of neutrons $+$ number of protons
$=8+8=16$
While isotopes are atoms with same atomic number but different mass number.
