Nucleolus is a spherical body, occupying upto 25% of nuclear volume, one or more of which stain with basic dyes in interphase nuclei. It consists of decondensed chromatin with gene sequences for r-RNA synthesis. It is associated with certain RNA binding proteins and ribosomal proteins and bring about ribosome construction.
