Q.
$ Na^{+},K^{+} $ dependent ATP ase activity helps in transport of:
Delhi UMET/DPMTDelhi UMET/DPMT 2004
Solution:
The cell membrane of the body have powerful $N a^{+}-K^{+}$pump that continually pumps sodium ions to the outside of the cell and potassium ions to the inside. In sodium potassium pump $N a^{+}-K^{+}$dependent ATP ase enzyme helps in translocation of three $N a^{+}$ions out of the cell for every two $K^{+}$ions pumped into the cell. ATP powers the changes in conformation by phosphorylating the transport protein.
