The mucus coating of epithelium lining of the respiratory, gastrointestinal and urogenital tract belong to the physical barrier of innate immunity. They trap the microbes which enter our body and thus prevent infection.
Cytokine barrier includes proteins called interferon, which are secreted by virus infected cells and provide protection to non-infected cells.
Physiological barrier includes acid in stomach, saliva in mouth, tears, etc. which prevent growth of microbes.
Cellular barrier includes the leucocytes present in the body and macrophages, which are phagocytic in nature.
