Solution:

Mitral valve (Bicuspid valve) is present in the atrioventricular opening between the left auricle and left ventricle. During atrial systole, the mitral valve opens to allow the flow of blood from left auricle to left ventricle. During beginning of ventricular systole, mitral valve closes so as to prevent the backward flow of blood.
