Archaeopteryx lithographica is widely accepted as the earliest and most primitive known bird. The discovery of the first intact specimen in 1861, two years after Charles Darwin published. Archaeopteryx was a prehistoric reptile with limbs which resembled the wings of today’s birds. It is considered a primary link in the evolutionary process between the ancient reptiles o f millions of years ago and birds as we know them now.
