Q. Methyl amine reacts with nitrous acid to form

Aliphatic primary amine react with nitrous acid to form diazonium salt which being unstable, decompose to form alcohol. While methyl amine reacts with nitrous acid to form methyl nitrite and dimethyl ether. $ C{{H}_{3}}N{{H}_{2}}+2HN{{O}_{2}}\xrightarrow{{}}\underset{methyl\text{ }nitrile}{\mathop{C{{H}_{3}}ONO}}\,+{{N}_{2}}+{{H}_{2}}O $ $ \underset{methyl\text{ }amine}{\mathop{2C{{H}_{3}}N{{H}_{2}}}}\,+2HN{{O}_{2}}\xrightarrow{{}} $ $ \underset{dimethyl\text{ }ether}{\mathop{C{{H}_{3}}OC{{H}_{3}}}}\,+2{{N}_{2}}+3{{H}_{2}}O $
