Q. Mayers formula for the relation between two principal specific heats $C_P$ and $C_V$ of a gas is given by

Thermodynamics

Solution:

Mayer's formula is $C _{ p }- C _{ v }= R$.
Here $C _{ p }$ is molar specific heat capacity of an ideal gas at constant pressure, $C _{ v }$ is its molar specific heat at constant volume and $R$ is the gas constant.
