Solution:

Amphibian plants are bryophytes. Marchantia is a liverwort belonging to the Bryophyta group. Cryptogams are those plants in which sex organs are hidden. Algae, bryophytes and pteridophytes are cryptogams but the only pteridophytes have xylem and phloem. Hence, they are called vascular cryptogams. Azolla whose leaves form a symbiotic association with cyanobacterium Anaebana, is a pteridophyte. Phanerogams or spermatophytes are seed-producing plants. Phanerogams with exposed seed and without ovary and fruit are gymnosperms. Pinus is a gymnosperm. Phanerogams with seeds enclosed in fruits are angiosperms. Zea mays (Maize) is a monocotyledon angiosperm.
