Solution:

Heartwood does not conduct water or transport it but it is hard and gives plant mechanical support and thus consist of dead elements with lignified walls. Early wood or Spring wood is formed during spring season and known to have wide vessels and Late wood have narrow vessels and cambium is less active in it. Sapwood is a part of secondary xylem in peripheral region which is lighter in colour.
