Q. Mammary glands are modified:

ManipalManipal 2003

Solution:

Mammary glands are modified apocrine sweat glands. Since mammary glands are apocrine, the milk first accumulates in apical part of each cell and then this part pinches off from the remaining cell and goes away in secretion. The broken cell is immediately repaired by regeneration.
