Ribosomes are chemically composed of RNA and proteins (both occuring approximately in equal proportion). The RNA commonly formed ribosome is r-RNA. DNA and RNA are the genetic material. DNA is common in eukaryote and prokaryote whereas RNA is found in some viruses only. DNA and proteins (histone) form the nucleosome.
