Q. Lysine is least soluble in water in the $pH$ range

AIIMSAIIMS 2006Biomolecules

Solution:

Lysine is a basic amino acid, hence its $pH$ (isoelectric point) lies in the basic range $(8$ to $9)$. At this $pH$ amino acid has the least solubility in water and this property is exploited in the separation of different amino acids obtained from the hydrolysis of protein.
