The longest phase in division phase of cell cycle is prophase. In meiosis it is subdivided into five stages. In prophase following events takes place.
$-$ The chromatin network undergoes condensation to forms chromosomes
$-$ Nuclear membrane and nucleolus disappears
$-$ Spindles begin to appear.
