Q. Lines in an atomic emission spectrum of an element are due to

Structure of Atom

Solution:

$\Delta E$ emitted is always for $E_{n_{2}}-E_{n 1}$ where $n_{2}>n_{1}$ i.e., lines in an atomic emission spectrum of an element occur when an excited electron drops from higher energy to lower energy level.
