Q. Light of wavelength $5000\, \mathring{A}$ falls on a plane reflecting surface. For what angle of incidence is the reflected ray normal to the incident ray?

Wave Optics

Solution:

Reflected ray is normal to the incident ray,
$\therefore i+r=90^{\circ}$
As $ r=i$
$ \therefore 2 i=90^{\circ}$
$ \Rightarrow i=\frac{90^{\circ}}{2}=45^{\circ}$
