In light-dependent reactions, solar energy is utilized with the help of chlorophyll in plants and converted to chemical energy in the form of NADPH and ATP which are electron carrier molecules. This chemical energy produced during the light-dependent phase is then used to reduce the water and carbon dioxide to glucose in the light-independent phase.
