Q. Let $P$ be the point $(4,1)$ and $Q$ be its image in the line $y=x .$ If $Q$ is translated through a distance $2$ units along the negative $Y$ - axis to reach the point $R$, then the co - ordinates of $R$ are

Solution:

The image of $P(4,1)$ on the line $y=x$ is $ Q$.
So, the coordinates of $Q$ are $(1,4)$.
The image of $Q( 1 , 4)$ in the mirror $y=-2$, i.e.
$X$ -axis is $(1,2)$. So, the coordinates of $R$ are $(1,2)$.
