Ketones give an addition product having more number of carbon atoms with Grignard reagent, which on hydrolysis gives an alcohol $\left(3^{\circ}\right)$.

Formaldehyde gives primary alcohol with Grignard reagent while any other aldehyde except formaldehyde give secondary alcohol.
