NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020

Solution:

Thyroid hormones namely triiodothyronine and thyroxine are produced and released by the thyroid gland They are tyrosine-based hormones that are mainly responsible for the regulation of metabolism.
Iodine is required to produce the thyroid hormones, of which thyroxine (T4) is the main hormone. In regions of iodine deficiency across the world, the lack of iodine in the diet can cause hypothyroidism.
Thyroxine is a hormone the thyroid gland secretes into the bloodstream. Once present in the bloodstream, thyroxine travels to the organs, such as the liver and kidneys, where it is modified to its active form of triiodothyronine.
It plays a significant role in digestion, heart and muscle function, brain development, and the maintenance of bones.
