Q.
In which of the following tissue, Schwann cells are found?
Structural Organisation in Animals
Solution:
Neurons or nerve cells are the units of nervous
tissue. They are ectodermal in origin. Each neuron has a cell
body or cyton from which arise two types of fibres- dendrites
and axon. Some axons are wrapped in a myelin sheath formed
from the plasma membranes of specialised glial cells known as
Schwann cells. Schwann cells serve a supportive and nutritive
function in a neurons. These cells are named after Theodor
Schwann.
