Q. In which of the following pairs, the two species have identical bond order?

Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure

Solution:

Total number of electrons in $N _{2}^{-}=7+7+1=15$

Total number of electrons in $N _{2}^{2-} 7+7+2=16$

Total number of electrons in $O _{2}^{2-}=8+8+2=18$

Total number of electrons in $O _{2}^{-}=8+8+1=17$

Total number of electrons in $O _{2}^{+}=8+8-1=15$

Configuration will be same as $N _{2}^{-}$ and $O _{2}^{+}$ contain the

same total number of electrons. Thus $N _{2}^{-}$ and $O _{2}^{+}$ has the same bond order.
