Q. In the reaction $ A(s)+B(g)+$ heat $ \rightleftharpoons 2C(s)+2D(g) $ at equilibrium, pressure of $B$ is doubled to re-establish the equilibrium. The factor by which concentration of $D$ is changed, is:

Solution:

For reaction, $K_{p}=\frac{[D]^{2}}{[B]}$
Hence, for this reaction, $\frac{\left[D_{1}\right]^{2}}{\left[B_{1}\right]}=\frac{\left[D_{2}\right]^{2}}{\left[2 B_{1}\right]}$
or $\left[D_{2}\right]=\sqrt{2}\left[D_{1}\right]$
