Q. In the $P ^{3}, S ^{2}$. and $Cl^-$ ions, the increasing order of size is

AIIMSAIIMS 1996Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties

Solution:

In isoelectronic species, the size of ions decreases as nuclear charge or atomic weight increases.

(Atomic weight of $P =30, S =32$ and $Cl =35$ ).

Therefore $Cl ^{-}< S ^{2}< P ^{3}$
