Location: between the thalamus/hypothalamus (of the forebrain) and pons (of hindbrain).
Cerebral aqueduct passes through the midbrain. The dorsal portion of the midbrain mainly consists of 4 round swellings (lobes). These are termed as corpora quadrigemina. Midbrain receives tactile and visual responses.
